Participatory Artworks
The set of participatory artworks was co-created by about 105 undergraduate refugee students and me at Thoo Mweh Khee Migrant Learning Center along the Thai-Burmese border, where I taught as a volunteer teacher for fieldwork from 2024 to 2025.
These works show these students’ exploration of Karen identity, depiction of homeland Kawthoolei, understanding of their own culture, and perceptions of living through war. As a co-creator, my own feelings and experiences as a researcher in the field are also embedded in these artworks, embodying reflexivity and the intersubjectivity between them and me. See Fieldnotes for the creation process.
